Benchling

Head of Design - 2019 - 2024

Benchling provides solutions to accelerate the pace of life science. Our customers are changing the world in the areas including medicine, food, fuel, and fabrics and we help them deliver them much faster. Building a team from scratch, I initially operated as lead designer and design recruiter for several months (during the early days of the pandemic). In addition to delivering v1 products, I eventually built a multi-pillar, hierarchical design team that was frequently recognized for their excellence and helped Benchling attain a 99% retention rate.

Elementum

Head of Design - 2016 - 2019

Elementum provided a platform to help businesses deliver products to customers faster and more reliably by providing end-to-end visibility and incident management over their supply chains. As we grew from 150 to 1000 employees, I was responsible for scaling the design team and the systems and processes within the Build organization. I also helped architect a product transition to an incident management platform helping businesses identify, track and remediate their supply chain issues.

Nimble Storage (acquired by HPE)

Head of Design - 2012 - 2016

Nimble Storage offered a data storage system along with manageability software to help businesses deploy, deliver and protect their customer's mission critical data. As a founding member of a small design team, I operated as both player and coach owning critical enterprise capabilities in the areas of data protection, user management and application performance. We were fortunate to be a part of tremendous growth helping the business IPO in 2014.

Netapp Inc.

UX Architect - 2010 - 2012

Netapp offered a data storage and manageability suite to help business deploy, deliver and protect their customer's mission critical data. As a founding member of the Design team, I helped Netapp envision how customers could manage their storage appliances at scale across multiple geographies. I operated as both player and coach owning critical enterprise features in areas of data protection and observability.

Oracle Corporation

Senior Design Manager / Principle Engineer - 1998 - 2010

My career at Oracle began as a software engineer, designing and building software for application translation, upgrades and patching. Bringing an application maintenance solution to market exposed me to the world of usability and the User Experience team. After transitioning to the UX team in 2006, I helped re-platform all of Oracle Applications onto the Fusion suite. As part of that effort, I co-led the Fusion Design System delivering over 100 patterns and guidelines to application designer and developers. I was also the lead liaison between UX and Engineering building a pattern-back UI architecture to accelerate development.
